Hold onto your hats this year!
For eons of time, soothsayers have looked to
the animals for answers and guidance from
God. They believe the animals speak to us and
their instincts teach us.
The year will prove to be one of changeability
and unpredictability. Watch for the signs. The
Fire Monkey’s wild ride may be one many will
not forget. This will be a year of transformation
and newly discovered passions with many
rejecting their conventional lifestyles for a
more laid back approach. Others may find the
courage to follow their life-long passion. Be
smart in all personal and business decisions.
Only make calculated moves.
The Monkey is highly intelligent with sharp
wits, unpredictability and quickness. Don’t be
surprised if things change on a dime this year.
The competitive Monkey may scheme to outwit
their opponent through manipulation and lies.
They love the Bohemian, unusual lifestyle of
freedom, and have difficulty being ‘normal’ or
conventional. Each person may feel the energy
of the Fire Monkey in their essence or see it in
another.
The year could turn into a “Hot Monkey Mess.”

Feng Shui Aspects for September 2015

Your home is an extension of your mind and your thoughts create your home. Does your home support your needs—emotionally, financially, physically, spiritually, and mentally? This monthly Feng Shui aspect feature will help you to make those assessments. All you have to do is read and place the objects appropriately and go about your month.

The Four-Pillar Eastern astrology and the Flying Stars method of Feng Shui is used to determine how the energies of the Earth and its directions from different time periods affect your lives and well-being.  The Flying Stars Feng Shui, a method thousands of years old, is based on ancient calculations of astronomy, navigation, and mathematics. The Flying Stars method covers the natal or birth stars of your home; the annual flying stars that change each year with the Chinese New Year; and the monthly flying stars, which change monthly.

Disclaimer: All aspects and predictions of the flying stars are for entertainment purposes only and should not be used in the place of medical care if you should need it.

The adjustments may be placed in the directional sectors of the property, home, office, or desk.

The month of September is considered the Metal Rooster. This month the element meeting the Rooster is wood. The metal/wood combo may help the Rooster to be kinder and gentler; not as abrasive. This month we may see many jockeying for position in the hen house. The Rooster never lets anyone see him sweat. This month, watch out for people blowing themselves up to be more than they are. Stay humble.

This month, the number #7 of karma and retribution/reckoning flies to the Center of the ba-gua meeting up with a #3 of conflict. Be careful of BIG disagreement that may result in a lawsuit or divorce. Place a bowl of blue detergent, salt, and water in equal parts in the center of your home. Also place a Brown or Stone Buddha to calm energy and raw clear crystals for clear thinking. Read ALL the fine print in signing of important papers. Fraud and con artistry is high this month. Always have a spiritual deity in the center of your home each year to remind you of the higher power that may help guide your insights and decisions. Trust all is as it should be.

The wealth-flying star is located in the North West of the ba-gua energy this month bringing good fortune to the Pig and Dog and Northwest facing homes. Place yellow citrine in the Northwest of the home to enhance the wealth factor. Place the infinity symbol in this area to remain you of your never-ending supply of wealth, health and happiness. The aspect of wealth joins the energy of academic achievement, which makes it especially good for the Patriarchal figure of the home.

The expansion star flies into the West this year joining the instability star. Take no unnecessary risks in the West this month and year.  This month keep the West especially still. Place a glass of 1/3 water, 1/3 sea salt, and 1/3 blue detergent in the West this month. The Rooster and West facing homes must watch his health, money, and relationships this year. Place a wu-lou or Gold Metal Rooster in this area to weigh down the energy. Take Epsom salts with lavender baths or swim to keep the body healthy and mind calm. Drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can do a Himalayan Salt cleanse with ½ tsp. of Himalayan Salt in 8 oz. of water. This is a spiritual cleanse for the soul. Just relax and enjoy the down time.  Always consult your doctor if you have any questions about your health.

The career star flies into the Northeast this month bringing a combo of the Ho Tu numbers 1/6 with possible career changes and promotions to the Ox and Tiger and Northeast facing homes. Place water, images of water, or fish in the Northeast for Career luck. The annual adjustments of 6 Gold coins in this area to enhance business ventures should still remain in place this month. Place a Gold Rooster on your desk to stop backstabbing and politicking. However, the power star is in your corner so there is a chance of speculative luck all year.

This month—AGAIN– keep the South calm.  This South and the Horse have the #7 of instability and karma in it’s sector, all year.  The South facing home or South sector of your home may feel off balance again this month when the illness and emotions star flies into that space. Place a Gold Metal Wu Lou or extra metal in the South area of the home this month to ward off illness. The Horse and South facing home must get their rest to avoid emotional burnout.

Keep blue flowers or still water at your front door all year on the left side looking out. Keep lighting low and be careful with fire. Put 1/3 salt, 1/3 water, and 1/3 blue detergent in a bowl and place it in the South. Place smooth clear crystal balls in this area for smooth sailing. Any work done in this area must be checked and double-checked for mistakes. Check over all legal documents—especially Horse people. The Horse may feel off balance and somewhat cranky and tired this month. If this should happen, get rest and stay quiet. Remember: Tomorrow in another day. Take baths, swim, and be kind to yourself. This month…just rest. This year, the South energy is about change and mastery of your karma.

This month, the Ho Tu # 2/7 combination come together to form a fire combination and can be especially advantageous to the fire energy of the South and the Horse. Fire energy is good for closing deals or beginning new projects, which may mean money windfalls, and past debt repayment out of the blue. Place crystal jewels or crystal balls or raw crystals in the South for mental clarity. This month, balance the energy of the South with a little bit of each element.

This year, the wealth-flying star is located in the North of the ba-gua energy map. This month the #3 of conflict flies to the North, bringing with it a combination of a Ho-Tu numbers 3/8. This can bring fortune to the Rat and North facing home but with possible conflict and bickering. The 3/8 combo brings balance to the North as it forms wood, which is the product of water. Creativity is high in the North this month. Place moving water in the North of the home to enhance the wealth factor as well as help calm any heated conflict this month surrounding money or relationships. Place the infinity symbol in this area to remain you of your never-ending supply of wealth, health and happiness

The Rat may feel off balance and somewhat cranky and tired this month. Place a Red Buddha in this area to stifle the combative wood.

Romance is in the Southwest this month for women, Monkey and Sheep people. For romantic luck place a pink peony flowers or a pair of Mandarin ducks in the Southwest. The Ho Tu 4/9 combo in the Southwest expands the luck for Romance to find you. Place 4 bamboos for academic achievement for those students or teachers returning to school. Learning and intuition is high this month in the Southwest and for the Sheep and Monkey people. Listen carefully and execute properly.

The East and Rabbit may feel ‘off’ this month. Remove all fire energy from this sector and add wood. Keep this sector quiet!! Place Saltwater Combo in the East of the home, room, or office to stabilize energy. This month the Rabbit may wish to just relax and lay low. Take no gambling or emotional risks. You may place extra salt this sector to absorb positive ions and stabilize energy. Place any of the protectors, fu dogs, chi luns, Kuan Kung, coin sword, protection amulets, etc. in this area.

This month, the Southeast, Dragon, and Snake may receive unexpected recognition this month. Place 6 Gold coins in this area to enhance the star of power and authority. With power and authority comes responsibly for your decisions and choices. Chose wisely. Do a brief mediation visualizing ideas to bring your higher goals to your front door. Ask your mind to create you a plan to follow to bring wealth into your life. Then listen and act upon it.

The Dragon, Snake and areas of the Southeast must continue to watch their health all year. The Snake and Dragon may wish to take extra care to get plenty of sleep, eat right, exercise to release emotions, and not burn the candle at both ends. Place a wu-lou or metal in this area to weigh down the energy. The Snake and Dragon may take Epsom salts with lavender baths or swim to keep the body healthy. Drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can do a Himalayan Salt cleanse with ½ tsp. of Himalayan Salt in 8 oz. of water. This is a spiritual cleanse for the soul. Just relax and enjoy the down time. You may also wish to counter measure with a blue detergent/Salt/Water Combo in this sector too.

Many tell me the aspects overwhelm them. Go back, read them, and take one directions at a time and just work with it. Don’t panic. Do the adjustments at your leisure or only do the directions you feel are a problem.  Eat the elephant one bite at a time. Pretty soon, you will get it and eat the whole elephant!! Have a fantastic month. Peace be with you!!

AUGUST: THE MONTH OF THE YANG WOOD MONKEY

August is the month of the Masculine Yang Wood Monkey. The upside of the Yang Wood Monkey is he is a great communicator and  can get along well with others. He can multi-task and can succeed at just about any profession.  He is usually well liked and fun loving.  With this tendency in the air, it is important this month to balance work and play or tensions may arise.

The down side to the Monkey is he knows how to play the game but may not always be honest in his feelings. His demeanor may be a ruse—what you see, may not be what you get.  The Wood Monkey  can be unpredictable–one minute playing and laughing and the next moment,  angry or sullen. He may  be passive aggressive or just aggressive.  The shadow part of the Wood Monkey may also  have a tendency to be selfish and arrogant and thinks himself higher than those around him. Tread carefully this month where money or your heart is concerned.

This month take special care in your attitude. Don’t offend others unnecessarily because next month when the Monkey energy leaves, you will still be here, with those you offended. Place a green elephant with his ear to the ground on your desk or in a living area to offset any miscommunication issues. Place a red Buddha image in the center of your home to remind you of happy home.

Since the Wood Monkey loves to play,  take time this month  to play, dance, and enjoy the end of summer. Fall is coming quickly!

AUGUST FENG SHUI FOR THE CENTER OF THE HOME

This month, the Wealth flying star is located in the Center of the ba-gua energy map  of the home bringing with it a combination of the HoTu numbers 3/8. This can bring fortune to all world markets but not without conflict and bickering. The Wood Monkey energy may play a role in whether the outcome will be good or bad. This 3/8 combination brings balance to the center and combines to make more wood for growth and creativity. Place moving water in the center of the home to enhance the wealth factor as well as help calm any heated conflict this month surrounding money or relationships. Place the infinity symbol in this area to remind you of your never-ending supply of wealth, health and happiness.

This month, the joints, muscles, and tendons of the body may feel over stimulated by the added Wood energy. Use cool water or warm oil to soothe.

Always have a spiritual deity in the center of your home each year to remind you of the higher power that may help guide your insights and decisions. Trust all is as it should be.

NORTHWEST  OF THE HOME– Dog and Pig

The Star of Expansion flies to the Northwest to form another HoTu combination of 4/9, bringing balance. This combination creates metal energy. Since the Northwest is ruled by metal, this combo is especially good for the patriarchal figure of the home. Place clear crystals, metal, glass, or chrome in this area to expand those projects; inventive ideas, follow through and productivity may increase this month. Use the NW sector to brainstorm.

Use very little fire energy in this area and be careful of fire danger in the NW this month. This added fire energy could also over-activate the emotions of the heart—good and bad. Be careful of extramarital affairs and promiscuous behavior. The Dog and Pig may be faced with emotional issues this month. Use water to expel the emotions and reground with Obsidian stone.

WEST OF THE HOME – Rooster

This month could be a good month for career changes and promotions in the West and for the Rooster. Place images of water or fish in the West for Career Luck. However, stay mindful of the instability of the West this year. Take no unnecessary risks in the West. Place a glass of 1/3 water, 1/3 sea salt, and 1/3 blue detergent in the West this month. The Rooster must still watch his health this year. Place a wu-lou or gold metal rooster in this area to weigh down the energy. Bathe with Epsom salts and lavender or swim to keep the body healthy. Drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can drink a Himalayan salt cleanse with ½ tsp. of Himalayan salt in 8 oz. of water. This is a spiritual cleanse for the soul. Just relax and enjoy the down time. Always consult your doctor if you have any questions about your health.

NORTHEAST OF THE HOME – Tiger and Ox

Place a gold metal Wu Lou or extra metal in the Northeast area of the home this month to ward off illness. The Tiger and Ox must get their rest. The annual adjustments of 6 gold coins in this area to offset business conflicts should still remain in place this month. Place a gold rooster on your desk to stop backstabbing and politicking. However, the power star is in your corner so there is a chance of speculative luck all year.

SOUTH OF THE HOME– Horse

This month, again, keep the South calm. The South facing home or South sector of your home may feel off balance again this month. Put blue flowers or still water at your front door on the left side looking out. Remember, tomorrow is another day. Take baths, swim, and be kind to yourself. Just rest this month. This year, the South energy is about change and mastery of your karma.

NORTH OF THE HOME– Rat

The North facing home and the Rat this month will have the good fortune of wealth and romance. Place 4 bamboos for academic achievement. Place pink peony flowers or a pair of Mandarin ducks for romantic luck. Place running water with citrine stones in the North for prosperity and windfall luck. Make sure this space is well lit. Place the infinity symbol in this area to remind you of your never-ending supply of wealth, health and happiness.

SOUTHWEST OF THE HOME – Sheep and Monkey

The Southwest, Woman, Sheep and Monkey may feel ‘off’ this month. Remove all fire energy from this sector and add extra metal. Keep this sector quiet!! Place a blue detergent/salt/water combo in the Southwest of the home, room, or office to stabilize energy. This month the Sheep and Monkey may wish to just relax and lay low. Take no gambling or emotional risks. You may place extra salt in this sector to absorb positive ions and stabilize energy. Place any of the protectors: fu dogs, chi luns, Kuan Kung, coin sword, protection amulets, etc. in this area.

EAST OF THE HOME– Rabbit

The East this month may receive an unexpected windfall with the combination of the HoTu numbers 1/6, which bring balance, combining to form water or wealth. Place 12 gold coins in this area to double your windfall. Running water may be used in this area to activate the water energy. Do a brief mediation visualizing ideas to bring prosperity to your front door. Ask your mind to create for you a plan to follow to bring wealth into your life. Then listen and act upon it.

SOUTHEAST OF THE HOME – Snake and Dragon

The Snake and Dragon and the Southeast facing home have a HoTu combo of 2/7 in their sector this month. Normally this brings bad luck, but this combination comes together to form. Fire energy is good for closing deals or beginning new projects, which may mean money windfalls, and past debt repayment out of the blue. Place crystal jewels or crystal balls or raw crystals in the Southeast for mental clarity.

The Dragon, Snake and areas of the Southeast must watch their health all year. The Snake and Dragon may wish to take extra care to get plenty of sleep, eat right, exercise to release emotions, and not burn the candle at both ends. Place a wu-lou or metal in this area to weigh down the energy. The Snake and Dragon may bathe with Epsom salts and lavender or swim to keep the body healthy. Drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can drink a Himalayan salt cleanse with ½ tsp. of Himalayan salt in 8 oz. of water. This is a spiritual cleanse for the soul. Just relax and enjoy the down time. You may also wish to counter measure by placing a blue detergent/salt/water combo in this sector, as well.

Many tell me the aspects overwhelm them. Go back, read them, and take one direction at a time and just work with it. Don’t panic. Do the adjustments at your leisure or only do the directions you feel are a problem. Eat the elephant one bite at a time. Pretty soon, you will get it and eat the whole elephant!! Have a fantastic month. Peace be with you!!

Feng Shui Aspects for June 2015

Disclaimer: All aspects and predictions of the flying stars are for entertainment purposes only and should not be used in the place of medical care if you should need it.

The adjustments may be placed in the directional sectors of the property, home, office, or desk.

This month of June 2015, the stars line up to make this a somewhat unpredictable month. The West, South, Southwest, and Southeast are the directions to keep an eye on for instable energies. The East, Northeast, and North are very auspicious and the Northwest is somewhat neutral. This month may feel like a balancing act but just remember—this too shall pass. Each sector has a yin and yang or negative and positive quality. Which one you feed will be the one that thrives. Always feed the positive and dissect the negative into a positive.

The Tai chi turns each day as well as monthly. When an auspicious daystar flies into the day, it will shift that monthly energy that appears funky!! Some sectors will definitely feel better than others. Start journaling and gauging your days.

This month the water star flies to the Center of the ba-gua/energy map– cleansing and purifying the energy of the environment. This could bring added rain and more water on a universal level. The extra water can also make the earth unstable and we may see more flooding, landslides, and maybe earthquakes. The water will bring added strength to the annual star of conflict so it is important to balance this wood/water/earth energy with more earth. Add extra clear raw crystals to the center of your home this month if you feel you are walking on shaky ground. The crystals will help you feel mentally clearer, grounded, and anchored.

This month could be a good month for career changes and promotions. For some, there may be some forced changes centering around job prospects but don’t panic. Change is scary, but sometimes very good and needed. Everything happens for a reason. This month in the center of your home, place still water to absorb any negative energy and in addition, a red Buddha or red smooth crystal to the center of the home for smooth business and personal transitions. Expect some endings and awesome beginnings!!

In the Northwest this month, remove all objects that resemble fire and keep lighting minimal. The Pig and Dog may wish to take extra care to get plenty of sleep and not burn the candle at both ends. Take no unnecessary risks in the Northwest this month. Keep the Northwest quiet and calm. Place a wu-lou or metal in this area to weigh down the energy. You may add 4 bamboos in water for academic achievement. The Northwest is a great place to write, edit, or create this month.

This month the Rooster people and the West of home may feel out of sorts. If your office or bedroom is in the West you may feel internal conflict regarding personal and business relationships. Place a Golden Rooster in the West this month with the bowl of sea salt water. This will stabilize that energy and help absorb the conflict. Because the Rooster is a bird of strength, self-promotion, and opportunity, the symbology of the Rooster counters backstabbing, politicking, and conflict through self-assurance. This month use this sector to focus on resolving those areas of your life not working in your best interest.

The Northeast of the home is a very strong area this month with achievement meeting up with power. Place 6 Chinese coins in the Northeast for the year. Romantic luck is high. Place pink peonies or mandarin ducks in this area to find that special feeling. The Tiger and Ox can enjoy a good month with good things coming their way. However, remember….having power is tough …choose wisely.

This month keep the South calm. The South facing home or South sector of your home may feel off balance this month. Put blue flowers or still water at your front door on the left side looking out. The Horse may feel off balance and somewhat melancholy and tired this month. If this should happen, get rest and stay quiet. Remember: Tomorrow in another day. Take baths, swim, and be kind to yourself. This month…just rest.

The North facing home and Rat people are blessed with good fortune this month. Place with 6 gold coins or Chinese coins and 8 pieces of Citrine stones in the North. Do a brief mediation visualizing ideas to bring prosperity to your front door. Ask your mind to create you a plan to follow to bring wealth into your life. Then listen and act upon it. Don’t procrastinate. Strike while the iron is hot!!

The Southwest in the month of June is complicated by a fire/metal clash. This month women need to watch their health and avoid becoming overloaded. Drink plenty of water and rest when exhausted to avoid a serious affliction. To stabilize this energy place your blue detergent/Salt/Water Combo in the Southwest of the home, room, or office. If you have a blue elephant or rhinoceros, set it in this area to protect the area as well. You may also set black or blue fu-dogs. Remove all fire or red energy. Also place a rooster to offset any gossiping and unfair attacking from your frienemies!! Allow the Southwest of the home to lay low this month. The Sheep and Monkey and Women must take rest when tired. This is a time of clearing past karma.

The East is honored with a fortune as well as the wealth star and career star meet up in the family sector of the ba-gua or energy map. Place a moving or still fountain with 8 citrine stones in the East. You may also place a picture of your family need the fountain for familial good fortune.

The Snake and Dragon and the Southeast Facing home must watch their health this month. The Snake and Dragon may wish to take extra care to get plenty of sleep, eat right, exercise to release emotions, and not burn the candle at both ends. Take no unnecessary risks in the Southeast this month. Place a wu-lou or metal in this area to weigh down the energy. Emotions may run high this month. Place smooth round crystal balls in the Southeast to distort the energy. Take Epsom salts with lavender baths or swim to keep the body healthy. Drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can do a Himalayan Salt cleanse with ½ tsp. of Himalayan Salt in 8 oz. of water. This is a spiritual cleanse for the soul. Just relax and enjoy the down time.

Wow, what is going on with all the plane crashes???

As most of you know, I author each year a Chinese Prophecy book. In this year’s book, The Thunder Year of the Stallion, as I lined up the stars I wrote:

“Due to the Yang Wood nature influence of the Horse, this year we may see natural disasters caused by high winds. We may see more tornados, hurricanes, and wild Fire fueled by wind. Since the wind is of the sky, we may hear more rumblings coming from the sky—sonic booms, meteors, rockets, planes crashes, thunder storms, etc” (Page 21).

Excerpt from page 36

“This year on the world map, the #7 of Violence rests over Russia, Korea, and China and the #5 of Instability looms over the United States. We may see conflict arise between those regions this year. The #6 also is located over the lower United States and Washinton DC. This aspect could promote a posturing of power, as well, with other countries. We may also see an increase in the ‘power of the people’ this year, as people realize they do have some say within their life. The Latin American regions will also see an increase in authority and recognition this year. The European nations may also prosper with the Expansion #9 star in their favor this year. There may be an outbreak of stomach and respirtory illness in the lower Asian and Upper Australia regions.”

These predictions have come to pass.

When you can line up the flying stars feng shui with the animal influences you can easily read the patterns of the universe.

Feng Shui Aspects for January 2014

Disclaimer: All aspects and predictions of the flying stars are for fun and entertainment purposes only and should not be used in the place of medical care if you should need it. The monthly adjustments, in addition to the annual flying stars, should be placed in the directional sectors of the property, home, office, or desk.

2014 The Thunder Year of the Stallion eBook is available at www.maryshurtleff.com. Hard copies available after the 7th.

Today, January 1st is the first New Moon of the Year!! Yippee…all sorts of new opportunities abound today. Place a jar of water in the sun today for an hour to absorb the NEW energy of the year. Then drink the water as a sign of you are accepting the new as you let go of the old.

Today, January 1st, 2014, the #9 star of expansion flies to the center of the ba-gua meeting with the annual star #5 star of instability still located in the center of the ba-gua, we may still feel a lot of earth quaking and instability in our lifestyles and weather throughout this month until the Chinese New Year on the 30th of January, EST.

The Female Water Snake has been sashaying out, but she has left much snow and cold as predicted last month in my Feng Shui aspects and a trail of destruction with her sidewinding tail. Remember, in December, I said….

The #1 of water and career flew to the center of the ba-gua bringing with it lots of rain and snow over the earth. Expect more rain, snow and cold this month. According to the I-Ching, the water over earth is the sign of obstruction in the gorge. A blocking energy. This month one may feel like Mercury is in retrograde with obstacles and obstructions blocking progress. This month, take it easy. Relax and just go with the flow.

Last month was a slow tough month weather wise and personal wise for many. When one can read the energy of the flying stars, one can prepare for the energy.

To finish off the year and stabilize any unpredictability in your home this year, keep beautiful raw clear crystals in the center of the home to remind you of the third eye energy and a knowing of what to do in time of trouble. The clear crystal will also bring clearer energy to the unstable energy of the Yellow star. The crystal energy will brighten the center of your home with hope and optimism and resonate a rainbow of light within the Yellow star, breaking down its harsh energy. Make sure your salt water is in place in the center of your home to cool and offset harsh energy.

It is always an excellent practice to have a huge crystal chandelier of some kind hanging in the center of your home always to disperse energy through out the house. The crystals also help to slow energy that may be flying out the windows and the doors.

The Ho-Tu numbers of 1/6 are located in the NW this month bringing genius planning to a mundane situation. Use water and metal to activate. Pay attention to intuition this month in the NW of your home. Place a bowl of water with 6 coins in the NW of the home. Water symbolizes money flowing to you. The #6 star of power and authority will help with business promotions and visibility this month. This is especially good for Dog and Pig people.

The #2 of illness and emotions flies to the West of the home. Rooster and those with a West front door or bedroom need to safeguard their health this month. On December 3rd of 2013, the #1 star of water and career flew to the center of the ba-gua bringing with it lots of rain and snow over the earth. For career help this month, place a bowl of water in the center of the home. Water symbolizes money flowing to you.

With the annual star #5 star of instability still located in the center of the ba-gua we may still feel lot of earth quaking and instability in our lifestyles and weather throughout the year. To stabilize any unpredictability in your home this year, place beautiful raw clear crystals in the center of the home to remind you of the third eye energy and a knowing of what to do in time of trouble.

The #3 conflict star flies to the West bringing opposing ideas to the Rooster and West facing homes. Chaos can be a good. It makes you move and shake and make more appropriate decisions. Place smooth crystal balls for clarity during conflict. Because of their ear size, elephants symbolize listening and clear communication, place an elephant figure on his side with his ear to the ground to help you listen and communicate appropriately. Since the annual star #7 of instability is still located in the West place a blue detergent salt water cure in the West to offset all energy.

The monthly #7 of legal conflict flies to the SW of women this month. Remove all metal wind chimes in the SW this month. The SW earth energy may smother some of the metal conflict. Place extra earth and heavy objects this month in the SW to tamp down the instability. Also be careful of your health in the SW of the home. The Rabbit and East facing houses may see increases in Money coming this month. Place water and citrine stones in the East this month. Since it is Christmas, place your Christmas tree or a Tree of Life in the East to promote family. Keep this area brightly lit with Christmas tree lights that twinkle. The Ho Tu combination of the 3/8 brings luck and happiness to this area. Hang a combination of 3 and 8 in this space this month.

Victory and celebration flies to Southeast of Dragon and Snake this month. The 4/9 Ho Tu combo also brings romance, luck, and happiness to the Dragon and Snake and the SE facing house or bedroom. The Southeast is the place to try to get pregnant this month. For Romance place pink peony flowers and rose quartz. Also place 4 bamboos for academic luck and recognition. Recognition is in the stars for the arts this month. Hang a combination of 4 and 9 in this area this month.

Christmas Rituals using the Elements of Feng Shui

This month I had also added some hints for Christmas design. Holidays are a great time to celebrate as well as take the opportunity to the clear the old from your life out and start all over again for the New Year. Prepare your house for Christmas by doing a little holiday ritual for Earth and Heaven Luck to enter your home and life.

Start your ritual between the New Moon and the Full Moon of the moon. Each day, chose an element and place it within your home with a prayer for good fortune and health coming to your home and all who enter there. Leave your elements in place until after the Chinese New Year. This allows the energy to build and flow. After the Chinese New Year you can replace or renew the ritual for another 12 days.
Start your ritual preparation with a thorough house cleanings getting rid of all old clutter, boxes, items that you no longer need. This is a good time to donate to a homeless shelter or Salvation Army. Be brave and clear it out.
Before decorating, remove all objects to be stored until after Christmas and a create open space for the holiday decorations. Keep the holiday in a natural motif with lots of wood energy.
Outdoor lights may be hung along the pathway and at your front door to draw energy to the front door. Melodic sounding wind chimes or ornaments may be placed at your front door to resonate energy coming into the home. (Unless you have a negative energy star at your front door…than scrap the windchimes!!)
Choose colors and a Christmas theme that are attractive to you. Brighter colors lift energy, muted colors calm energy. Design items should be in pairs or multiples of 3, 5, and 7. Use colorful ornaments, lights, and icicles to lift energy.
Use power strips instead of extension cords. Visible electrical cords are draining and symbolize too much going on which can cause anxiety and a feeling of being spread too thin. Plugged into TOO much!!!
Decorate your bathroom with cheerful holiday towels and scented soap. Make the bathroom as inviting as possible. When guests wash their hands in your bathroom it makes them feel prosperous and helps to bring money to your home.
For peace of mind and serenity, place a pot of oranges and apples in water on the stove and simmer through the holiday season. Also, serve a good spiced wine. Mulling spices are available at most fine grocery stores. This yummy warm beverage gives feeling of peace and comfort.
Play Christmas music in your home to set the stage for peace, joy, and giving. Once you have cleared your home and set the stage, you are ready to place the first element.

First day of Christmas Ritual-Water Element- Renewing and Cleansing-Bringer of Life.

Place water at your front door, either in the form of a fountain or still water, to renew and cleanse all energy coming into the home. Place orange and frankincense oil in the fountain or water. Around or under the water feature, place object or photos of all things, you wish to renew or heal the coming holiday season and year. Place a prayer with the water for healthy, wealth, and happiness connection for all family members and friends.
Second day of Christmas Ritual-Wood Element-Growth and Creativity:

Place your Christmas tree and garland. If you have already placed your tree, you may place a Poinsettia place or fresh flowers this day. The beautiful wrapping paper also is synonymous with the Wood element. Light the tree to bring in the opportunity for new growth and creativity. If you do not celebrate the Christmas season, you can still put up a tree symbolizing something in your life of great importance and decorate it appropriately. Rename it _______________ Tree.
Third day of Christmas Ritual-Fire Element-Passion and Transformation

The Christmas tree lights are the best form of fire energy at Christmas time. In addition, create an alter which consists of frankincense and myrrh bulk incense and real gold in the center of your home. Real Gold is preferred to symbolic gold, to symbolize wealth. You may also place a Buddha, Jesus, Nativity Scene, or other spiritual deities on your alter to balance the energy of the home with peace and unconditional love. You may also add rice, salt, and berries to the alter if you so desire for abundance. Salt is used to clear all negative energy.
Place a white candle of Spirit on the alter. Place a smaller candle symbolizing all members of the family or friends who you wish to honor. Spray the essential oil of cinnamon, myrrh, and frankincense around the entire home to clear the home. Light the candle and say a prayer, while visualizing your desires for all. Leave the alter through the holiday season, replacing the candles as needed. Be extremely careful of all fire dangers. Electric candles can be substituted if small children or animals present a danger.
You may also burn Cinnamon or Bayberry candles in your Helpful People (NW corner) or Wealth area (SE corner) to bring prosperity to you, your family and all who visit. Candles need only burn for an hour or two each day for great results.
Fourth day of Christmas Ritual- Earth Element-Grounding and Security

Place sea salt or rock salt in small saucers in each corner of your home.
Using the ousting mudra (flicking the middle finger against your thumb in an outward motion) command all negative energies and spirits that no longer serve the household to depart, while perceiving in your mind’s eye ensuing peace.
–After nine days throw the saucer contents to the wind, from each corner of your property and replace with new salt. Do this every nine days until the Chinese New Year, knowing that you have established a strong foundation for the future.
Fifth day of Christmas Ritual-Metal Element-Wisdom, Discipline and Logic-Closing Metal

Metal is symbolically the end of a cycle–in the life cycle the body dries up and gets stiff as it ages. Age is associated with Wisdom. Consciously choose rocks, stones, natural crystals, gems or Chinese coins that speak to you and help to open your pathways to wisdom. These stones contain the electromagnetic energy of the earth. Place your chosen metals in each corner of your property (or apartment), with a spoken personal affirmation to create a blessed environment. Leave the objects to hold and solidify the strong sacred energy you’ve declared, for months to come.
May you have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you next year.

As the year 2013 and the Female Water Snake begin slithering in, it became the undoing of many as they were asked to shed their old ways and skin and adopt new ways.

Endings and beginnings, death and rebirth are difficult and cause one to restructure belief systems and start anew.

New Beginning are often disguised as painful ending~~ Lao Tzu

The Year 2013 was definitely a year of explosive beginnings. On February 12th right after the Pope Benedict announced his resignation, the Vatican was struck by lightening, not once but twice. Jorge Mario Bergoglio would then be elected to be the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. Bergoglio picked the papal name of Francis in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. Pope Francis is the first Jesuit Pope and the first pope from South America. He is a humble man who through the year has changed protocol within Vatican City.

Politically in 2013, we have seen violent upheavals in the Middle East and Syria, with Russia and China joining forces against the United States. We witnessed turmoil in Egypt and Turkey with violent rioting that left many dead and a government unstable. North Korea and Kim Jong-Un reared his head and threatened attacks against United States bases. There were so much violence worldwide and many threats of war and the overthrowing of governments last year that even the press had a hard time keeping up. For the rest of the story….

Feng Shui History of the Oval Office

Disclaimer: This article is for amusement only. I personally have never visited the White House. I am still awaiting the invitation. I used pictures and history from the Internet to do my research.

The government, stuck in old ways and outdated patterns, will need some new energy and feng shui adjustments set forth within the Oval Office, senate and legislative offices to achieve the new direction and support of that, which President Obama is trying to accomplish. However, will those new adjustments help or harm the already established place the United States has in the world order? And are we willing to take that chance?

The misnomer of feng shui is that all you do is go in and move things around and all is well. A feng shui practitioner must research all history of any place before they can touch any piece of anything. They have to determine what is working and what is not. This interruption of good energy can cause problems with health, money, relationships, and etc. To interrupt energy that is working can be as devastating as negative energy, which is not working. To go in and feng shui the White House without history of all presidential interactions would be careless.

William Howard Taft, in 1909, extensively remodeled the West Wing and relocated the presidential office to the middle of its south side. He took over the secretary’s office and changed it rounded design to a full oval. He felt an oval would make him and future presidents the center of their administration and more involved in the day-to-day operation of the presidency. This assumption according to feng shui principles is correct. This thinking seemed to have worked because Taft was more involved in his duties than any of his predecessors.

In 1929, the West Wing and the original Oval Office was destroyed by fire. President Hoover rebuilt it to the same design, however in 1933, Franklin Roosevelt chose to renovate and further expand the West Wing to accommodate his additional staff. He moved the Oval Office to the southeast corner of the West Wing where the laundry-drying yard was. The new location had better lighting with windows to the east and south. It also provided easier travel back and forth to the Residence. The last 13 Presidents of the United States have inhabited the current Oval Office. Hence, no other major renovations have been made to the Oval Office.

Each president, since 1933, has deposited his energy, thoughts, and behaviors in the Oval Office. Energy of every war, every success, every friendship and foe, and every negotiation is embedded in its walls, floors, and ceilings. With each presidential change, an esoteric space clearing should be done by a Shaman, a medicine man, priest, minister, or qualified Feng Shui practitioner on the office to neutralize any negative energy and enhance all positive energy.

Even though each new president is allowed to create his own style, the position of the room and the desk have been mainstays of the office. The HMS Resolute Desk, located in the Oval Office, is carved from the timbers of a British Warship of the same name and was given as a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes and has served 25 presidents. Every president since Hayes—except Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and Ford—has used the Resolute desk, although some chose to use it in their private study. Its first appearance in the Oval Office was during the JFK administration. When LBJ took office, the desk become part of a traveling exhibit and then taken to the Smithsonian Institute. When Jimmy Carter was elected to office, he asked the desk be returned to the Oval Office. Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. both proceeded to use the Resolute Desk after the Carter administration. George Bush Sr. later moved the desk to his private resident office. Bill Clinton chose to move it back to the Oval Office and George Bush Jr. and Barrack Obama, to date have used it. This desk has become a symbol of power and fortitude within the wall of the Oval Office.

Since, the presidential desk is made from the wood of a wrecked and abandoned British warship, the energy of every document signed upon this desk is questionable. The current desk holds negative energy not only of the warship from which it came, but every administration that has declared war upon another country, British and American. Think of all the serious energy and emotions that must have accumulated in the drawers and wall of this desk, as well as the energy encased in the wood from its experience as an abandoned warship. Sadly, the desk may need to be replaced before any expected changes of peace can manifest.

The pondering begins. The desk could be removed from the Oval Office and displayed at the Smithsonian Institute and a reproduction of the old desk from new wood could then be built to start a new energy pattern within the Oval Office. However, on the other end of the spectrum, would removing the desk of strength from the Oval Office affect the world image of power the United States portrays to the world?

The Resolute desk was removed during the terms of Nixon, Johnson, and Ford and none of them were powerful presidents and each served less than two terms. Johnson finished Kennedy’s presidency and served only 14 months as president. Nixon resigned mid-term into his second term from scandal. Gerald Ford, after serving out the last years of Nixon’s second term, sought another term but was not elected. These are the questions all Feng Shui practitioners should ponder before ever removing such a symbol of power. I am not sure of the answer myself. More research would need to be done.

The Oval office is remodeled with each new presidency. Usually the colors, the furniture, and the presidential rug are changed, however the furniture positions have always remained the same. The most serious of problems in this furniture arrangement is that the president’s back is to the South window. This position with his back to the window may leave the president vulnerable to attack. A large mirror over the fireplace offset from the window would be a desirable feng shui adjustment. The president, could then, as he sits at his desk, see out the window to the world behind him.

The president’s back to the window, metaphorically also says, that he has his back to the world. It gives the impression he is not interested in anything past his office. It says he doesn’t see or understand the problems, which plague the world and common man. A president must always face the world with his or her eyes and ears open. President Obama has been a president who spends so much time outside the Oval office that he may have already feel this energy in his office and wants to connect with the world.

Sadly, with the way the room is set up in a circular manner with the fireplace as a focal point, it is difficult to rearrange its furnishings in a different way. The feng shui energy in the Oval Office moves in a circular motion around the room, never ending and never beginning, causing cycles of behavior to exist. It is no wonder each president drops into the same patterns of achievement and struggle. At one point, the energy needs to slow and collect to be adjusted and changed. Furniture may be able to strategically placed to accent all four directions and help slow energy flow. A continuous chi flow is good, unless, a negative behavior pattern has been established within a room. The history of the United States and it’s continued involvement in war -like behavior may be an example of such a pattern. The Oval Office may need to be redesigned. This, however, is an architectural problem and would be difficult to address without major reconstruction.

As one looks at the history of the Oval Office and the choices of colors and accessories used in each presidency brings forth the question of how these colors and their use may have affected the history of our country.

The colors of the Oval Office in the Clinton administration were dark blue almost indigo for spiritual awareness and tan or gold for grounding and healing. Clinton did amazingly well in office. The hints of red in his office showed passion in all projects but it didn’t overdue so to be construed as aggression.

However, as I look at the office images of FDR, his office was the most powerful office of all presidents. The Resolute Desk was in his President’s study. He used the heavy green curtains that presidents before him back to the Taft administration, had used. These curtains had a gold colored American eagles displayed on them. Green is a sign of money, nature, and healing and the golden colored eagle metaphorically showed his strength and power. He was a very powerful president. Although straddled with the effects of polio, he was elected for 4 terms as president and died shortly into serving his fourth term. I believe FDR’s strength should be displayed in future Oval Offices, in conjunction with the spiritual feeling to still keep America strong but compassionate and spiritual.

Blue has been used as mainstay color of presidents of the past. The blue is symbolic of calming however monochromatic blue could bore the mind or cause lethargy and even depression to set in. Clear thinking may be clouded. To offset this boredom, use a yang color in conjunction to lift passion and drive.

John F. Kennedy’s brilliant red rug was being installed on the day of his assassination. The color, red, could have been a prophecy of what would be the blood he shed for the country. Red is passion and desire but also brings forth anger and pain if used too abundantly.

Ronald Reagan’s office was gold and blue as well. In his first term, he left the Oval Office designed the way former presidents Ford and Carter had it set up. However in his second term, he changed from a florette design rug to a gold rug with sunbeam design. His administration in the second term was more successful than his first.

President George W Bush designed his office to look much like his father’s office, former President George HW Bush. Their history in office was similar, with both starting wars in Iraq.

The accessories in the room and the pictures on the wall bring forth emotions as well. Therefore, the Oval Office should only feature pictures and accessories that are peaceful, stable to the eye, and fulfill the goals of a nation. If pictures of foreign leaders are displayed, all parties in the pictures should be smiling at each other, shaking hands and/or embracing. Do not display pictures of stiff posed interactions with forced smiles. Rogue leaders, dictators, or battle scenes or warships should never be displayed.

President Truman had portraits of FDR, Simón Bolívar, and George Washington on his wall, each of who were involved in struggles of war. President Truman made the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan. However, the pictures of FDR and George Washington are strong American leaders, so again, would removing those pictures during a time of war have made the country weaker? Thoughts to ponder.

No modern art should be used in a professional setting because the message is too blurry and there are no clear lines of communication. The messages the pictures project should be clear-cut to keep the eye focused and the mind clear. Modern art is fine when used in casual settings.

The Oval Office is located in the West wing. The West Wing of the White House is located in the cocky Rooster of the West in the Chinese Zodiac. The West and Northwest are controlled by the element of metal. The sharp metal energy that resides here can carry the ideas and talk of war energy and weapons. A fountain and plants can be displayed in the corridor before you enter the doorway to the Oval Office to help calm and dull the energy of the metal. I find it interesting our symbol of the eagle can be synonymous with the cocky rooster energy. Reconstruction could be done on the Oval Office and the White House to eliminate this energy, however, do we want this energy altered or do we want to remain the cocky Rooster–the powerful Eagle– of the West?

As you look at and compare the feng shui of each president and in hindsight look at the history of the nation, the facts are hard to refute. The feng shui of our environment does affect the way our lives unfold-consciously, subconsciously, or unconsciously. For every subconscious thought there is a movement of energy; for every action there is a reaction.

There is so much history and feng shui that one can piece together in hindsight of the history of our presidents and country. The information in this article has been researched to the best of my ability and any errors in content are unintentional.

Feng Shui Aspects for June and July 2013

Disclaimer: All aspects and predictions of the flying stars are for fun and entertainment purposes only and should not be used in the place of medical care if you should need it. The monthly adjustments, in addition to the annual flying stars, should be placed in the directional sectors of the property, home, office, or desk.

The 2013 Water Snake e-books are available at www.maryshurtleff.com. This year the Snake Book is available at www.amazon.com.

Wow, what a whirlwind year this has been for me!! The year of transformation is an understatement. I sold my primary home in Utah and I am now living in my RV until September when I will move to my condo in Mesquite. We cannot get into our new primary home until January, so we are in a state of limbo with all my ‘stuff’ in storage. Our Utah house sold in April in just a day after listing and we closed on it today, June 17th–Fast and in sync with the universe. Everything went smoothly. Thank you Universe.

Since June is almost gone, I am going to highlight only what you may want to do for the rest of the month. June is a Mr. Toad’s wild ride. The flying stars line up with either really good energy or somewhat unstable energy.

In June, the 5&7 meet up in the center of the home, the 5&3 meet up in the East, and 7&9 meet up in the West for a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. All you have to do for the rest of June is place a jar of blue salt water detergent in the center, East, and West of the home as described in the Female Water Snake book. Be careful of extremities injuries for the rest of the month. There is an aspect of injury.

The NW and NE are wealth sectors in June–place water and 8 citrine stones in the NW and/or NE of the home or office.

Place a red crystal or red Mandela in the North, South, Southwest, and Southeast to offset any lingering bad chi mon of the unstable combination of stars.

July Aspects:

With that said, ….let’s move on the July combo flying stars and stripes forever!! This month is the 4th of July so take a moment and be proud to be an American if you live in America. Thank your soldiers for their will to give you the right of free speech and movement. For my international subscribers, also say a prayer of thanks for your freedom and safety.

The energy of July begins on the first New Moon of the month around July 8th. With the annual star #5 star of instability located in the center of the ba-gua all through this year, we may still feel lot of earth quaking and instability in our lifestyles and weather throughout the year. To stabilize any unpredictability in your home this year, place beautiful raw clear crystals in the center of the home to remind you of the third eye energy and a knowing of what to do in time of trouble. The clear crystal will also bring clearer energy to the unstable energy of the Yellow star. The crystal energy will brighten the center of your home with hope and optimism and resonate a rainbow of light within the Yellow star, breaking down its harsh energy. May sure your salt water is in place in the center of your home to cool and offset harsh energy.

In July, place 6 metal coins in the center of the home to help you come out ahead during conflict. This month we may see clashes within religion, government, and personal institutions on a universal level. The metal of heaven energy may cause some clashing in the heavens in the form of thunderstorms and rain and wind. Stay diligent and safe.

The instability star flies to the NW bringing chaos the Pig and Dog and NW facing homes. Chaos is good. It makes you move and shake and make new more appropriate decisions. Karma and Personal Growth aspects in the NW this month may bring instability to all aspects of our lives. Be careful of striking out too quickly this month. You may place peacock feathers in this area to symbolize protecting eyes. Place a clear purple crystal or raw clear crystal in this area to promote clear thinking. Place the blue detergent salt water in NW of your home or office this month.

Wealth star flies to the West in July bringing new career opportunities to the Rooster and West facing homes. With the #7 annual star in the West this year, read all contracts thoroughly and watch for inconsistencies in the contract and verbal agreements. Place blue colored water with citrine stones in the West to enhance wealth prospects.

Increased money and business promotions fly to the NE this month bringing luck to the Ox, Tiger, and NE homes. Place extra lighting in the NE of your home or office next to your water fountain and citrine stones.

Career energy and promotions fly to the South in July and energizes the Horse and South facing homes. Place extra water in the South this month to activate the water energy.

The monthly #2 of illness and emotions fly to the North in July. The water energy of the North can dampen the earth energy of the #2 Earth star. Place a metal wind chime in the North to enhance the energy of the North. Meditate daily, exercise at least 15 minutes, get your rest, and eat right. That is the key to good mental and physical health. Place a metal wu-lou, cobalt blue crystal, or Tree of life in the North of your home this month to protect your health.
Place a red crystal, red apple, or red Buddha in the SW of your home or office of your home this month to calm any conflict, which may arise. Place a metal wu-lou, cobalt blue crystal, protection sigil, or Tree of life in the SW of your home this month to protect your health.

The Lucky Green Star of Literary Success and Romance flies to East meeting up with the Conflict Star. Place a wish fulfilling crystal in the East with 4 lucky bamboos to bring power and wealth to your writing skills. Children may study in this area this month for increased ability. Place red and/or pink peonies and rose quartz in the East for Romantic luck. Also place a pair of birds to promote longevity and healthy life. This could be a good spot to make babies this month with the big bang spark and the romance star.

Place Salt Water Cure or Salt Lamp in the Southeast of your home this month to stabilize prosperity energy. Remove all excess fire energy this month. Because the universe speaks in signs and symbols, I recommend every person place the protection sigil decal on your body and in your car. You may also place Peacock Feathers in the SE to activate Kwan Yin energy for protection and mercy.

Have a fabulous month!! Live long and prosper!! I wish you much wealth, health, and happiness.
